Olloclip Macro Lens

An Olloclip macro lens is an attachment you can use on your iPhone and is used for extreme closeups while taking pictures. It is a tool used by a lot of professional photographers.

Photography
Panoramic

On your iPhone you can take a panoramic photo (PANO), which is great for landscapes or something too large to capture in just one photo. You can take them anywhere, even inside, which isn’t very practical. To take a panoramic photo, select the shutter button and move your camera to the right while following the line provided on your screen.

Passcode

When the Passcode is enabled, and your phone is locked you can see the lock in the status bar. And you can also see a message that says, “Press Home to Unlock.” Which brings you to a screen that allows you to enter your Passcode.

iOS Overview, Privacy and Security
Photo Search

Photo Search on your device allows you to search for objects in your photos. The way it works, is that your photos are scanned by iOS, and they are put into categories. It will recognize objects like a dog, fish, plant, or even in a location like a playground.

Photography
RAW photos

Your iphone's camera can also shoot in RAW photos instead of just jpeg, which allows you to edit on a professional level.

Photography
Rule of Thirds

Following the Rule of Thirds can be done using the grid on your device and it helps to make the composition of photos much more interesting.

Photography
Saturation

There is a Saturation option when editing photos on your device. You can adjust the saturation with the slider, as well. If you turn that all the way up to the right, to the most saturation, you will get a really bright, neon color. This is where I try to keep adjustments to a minimum, because your photographs end up not looking natural.

Security Questions

Apple allows you update your password if you can’t remember but it uses your recovery email so make sure that’s good, or it will ask for your security questions. Go ahead and proactively make sure those security questions are something you are going to be able to remember.

iOS Overview
Selfie Camera

There’s also access to the selfie camera to the right of the shutter button, and when you select that, you’ll get that front facing camera. Which by the way, isn’t as high quality as the forward facing camera, but it’s still a really good camera.

Send Last Location

You can also Send Last Location, which will allow you to find your iPhone even if the battery is critically low.

Privacy and Security
Slider

You’ll see a slider, where you can slide it to the right or the left, to zoom in or zoom out. When you have it zoomed where you want, you can take a photo, and you will see the zoomed results, which I think are pretty stunning.

Smart Dial

Smart dial is also known as a smart slider and can be used when editing photos. If you select the smart dial you are able to quickly adjust the light, the color, or the black and white options.

SMS

SMS also known as 'short message service' is a reference to how a text message was sent. It is a message that was not sent over the Apple Network meaning another iphone or ipad. It has a green background when it's sent and can also show if the person recieving the message has their phone off or is out of range.

Getting Connected
Software Updates

A software update will update all of the software on your device so it works to full capacity. If you don't do an update your device will not stay up-to-date and can work slower.

iOS Overview
Square Photos

Square photos are taken in what is called 'Square Mode' and they are smaller than normal photos and are square, not rectangle. They are most commonly used for Instagram since that is a more creative social media platform when it comes to photos. You can use the grid to help create a perfectly square photo.

Photography
Touch ID

After you set up a Passcode, you can add an even greater level of security if you enable Touch ID. You can find the Touch ID setup at the top of the Touch ID & Passcode screen  and if you have never used Touch ID before, the first thing to do is to add a fingerprint. Your iPhone uses a digital sensor to capture your fingerprint. It will ask you to make sure that you cover the Home button completely, and then further prompt you to rest the edge of your fingers on the Home button repeatedly. Then it will further ask you to rest the edge of your finger on the Home button.

Privacy and Security
Touch to Focus

Touch to Focus allows you to put the focus on your foreground subject.

Two-Step Authentication

Two-Step Authentication is also known as two-factor authentication. It is another form of security for your device so instead of just asking for one passcode to access your phone you must go through a process of two verfications that will be required when you try to login on a different device. This is something you have to set up yourself on your iphone if you want this level of security, it is not activated by itself.

Getting Connected
Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi is what you need to be connected to in order to use the internet on your device. Many places offer free Wi-Fi that you can use but you must use their network and password provided in order to connect. You can also have Wi-Fi at your house if you pay for the internet through a provider.

Getting Connected
Wide Color Spectrum

Wide Color Spectrum on your camera wasn’t available on most of those digital cameras just a few years ago. It uses a broader color spectrum, which allows you to capture bright, robust colors.
